We are delighted to announce that Cycle Systems won the prestigious industry award – the BikeBiz “Rising Star” prize – at the BikeBiz Awards event at the Hilton Metropole this year. Along with other industry heavyweights, such as Evans Cycles, Madison, Road CC and Cycling Plus, Sean Lally, Director of Cycle Systems, accepted his BikeBiz trophy in front of a packed house. The “Rising Star” category is a fairly new one at the BikeBiz event and has been set up to help promote and acknowledge the hard work and successes of smaller companies entering the trade.

Cycle Systems has been going from strength to strength. Started in 2007 by Sean and his wife Julia, the company has grown in size and stature and has recently attracted a partnership with Havering College to provide Government subsidized apprenticeship training in professional cycle mechanics.

“As the event takes place just before the Cycle Show, this prize is also a fantastic opportunity for us to let people know we are here” said Sean Lally. “I have been given the chance for unprecedented networking due to this award so I am truly grateful for those who helped organised and pull of such a great event” he went on. “I would encourage anyone in the cycle trade who is interested in high quality training provision to contact me. We are now in the business of providing Government QCF accredited Level Two and Level Three qualifications in Cycle Mechanics through an engineering framework and are very proud of the quality of both our facilities and instruction”

The good and the great of the cycling industry made their way to Cycle Systems Academy for the launch of the NVQ apprenticeship funded training programmes in association with Havering College in October.

Organisers were anticipating a decent turnout, but as people continued to file into the place well into the evening, all expectations of a large and buzzing crowd were exceeded.

“What a great night” said Sean, Cycle Systems Director. “We had everyone here: from industry organisations, to independent bikeshops, to young would-be apprentices looking to hook up with a potential employer. It was really satisfying to see people meeting who they wanted and getting what they wanted out of the evening. We had someone who is currently studying with us land a job there and then with Brick Lane Bikes, a potential apprentice offered a job at a Specialized Concept store and plenty of others!”

Partnerships were also obviously going from strength to strength on the Cycle Systems front aswell, as speakers from the National Apprenticeship Service and Nigel Hogg from Havering College, gave presentations to the crowd on how the Apprentice Scheme works and what can be gained from taking part.

“Havering College is one of the biggest and most respected Further Education colleges in the UK” co-Director Julia Lally continued. “With quality kitemarks coming out of their ears and a turnover of over £36 million, we couldn’t think of a better or more heavyweight partner to be working with.”

“Which means that the training market for cycle mechanics is opening up” added Sean. “A lot of people seemed really happy to see that and we are certainly looking forward to delivering our quality training around the UK.”

Cycle Systems, in partnership with one of the biggest further education colleges in the country, Havering College, are announcing their new partnership.

“We are really thrilled to be able to work with Havering on this project” says Julia lally, co-founder of Cycle Systems. “Students and employers have been asking us for a long time if they can access any Government funding to do our training courses and the answer is that now they can.

Apprenticeships are truly a great way to help increase youth employment whilst ensuring that your business grows by developing keen and skilled staff.

Also on offer are NVQ accreditations for skilled staff you already have who may not necessarily need the training aspect but very much need an accreditation.

Please do come to our NVQ apprenticeship launch at the Academy on 21st october at 7pm. Please RSVP so we know you are coming!”

Cycle Systems has been selected to provide cycle maintenance and national standards cycle training to employees of companies and organisations along the Mayor’s new Cycling Superhighways, which were launched today in Clapham Common.

We were there at the launch event with our distinctive green freight bikes and our mechanics had queues of people hoping to get their bike checked out on their commute from 7am this morning. (July 19th 2010)

“We are very excited to be working with TfL on this groundbreaking project” said Sean lally, director of Cycle Systems, who donned his “Cycle Skills” instructor tabard for the morning. “Cycling is growing exponentially in the Capital and such serious support and investment from London’s Mayor and his Transport Team can only bode well for London’s future.”

As a part of this investment, TfL is rolling out a workplace package along the Superhighways. This can include cycle to work initiatives of your choice. For example, employees could receive a “Bike Doctor” service free of charge, or national standard cycle training to help give them the confidence to take up cycling to work.

Over the past few months, Cycle Systems have revolutionised a cutting edge, comprehensive set of tutorials. These can now be accessed for FREE on the Cycle Systems Academy website!

We have drawn upon a wealth of knowledge from our top mechanics – all of whom have years of experience in the trade and in cycle workshop environments. We have also been lucky enough to have had access to a huge variety of equipment (from state of the art to old and funky) from our sponsors, from our friends such as Lunar Cycles (http://www.lunar-cycles.com/) , and from our own stock of Academy training materials.

All that, together with Julia’s tireless input of long hours and takeaway meals to bring the whole lot together in a structured and easy to follow format that, we hope, offers something to complete beginners and lifelong experts alike.

Enjoy. And if you like it, tell your friends.

Our tutorials have been chosen to be the exclusive technical partner for the websites www.roadcyclinguk.com andwww.bikemagic.com – so you can access the content there also.

Plus a further excting development will be the provision of all these tutorials on YouTube so that, eventually, you will be able to log on and find out that the answer nagging technical question wherever you are.
